For over twenty-one years, Elizabeth “Libby” (Coulter) Gregg made a positive and lasting impact on so many students, families, and colleagues at Pinchbeck. She will forever be remembered for her infectious smile and caring for others. Libby’s heart is imprinted on several generations, through her loving kindness and compassion. She was named one of Henrico County’s Top Teachers in 2018 and Pinchbeck Elementary School’s Teacher of the Year in 2022. Even after her retirement, she continued to be a ray of sunshine to all those who were blessed to know and love her, often visiting Pinchbeck to volunteer on the first day of school and for special events.
After many years of battling breast cancer, Libby passed away on February 14th, 2023. Along with her Pinchbeck family, the Pinchbeck PTA raised funds to create a living legacy on campus by planting a Dogwood tree outside her Kindergarten classroom, C3. In addition, a donation of $470.00 was made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation in the memory of Elizabeth "Libby" Hoggard Gregg.
In 2025, the Libby Gregg Memorial Scholarship was created by Libby’s two daughters to honor their mother’s legacy by inspiring and empowering individuals who share her passion for teaching. Just as Libby dedicated her life to nurturing young minds and fostering a love for learning, this scholarship aims to support those who are committed to following a similar path. By helping like-minded individuals pursue their educational goals, this fund encourages the next generation of compassionate, dedicated educators who will make a difference in the lives of students, just as Libby did.
Donations to the Libby Gregg Memorial Fund will support an annual scholarship to a graduating Henrico County senior who is planning to attend a 4-year college pursuing a career in elementary education. Additionally, the fund will support the Pinchbeck Elementary School Library each year by helping purchase new books and enriching its collection for students. Donations and additional information on the scholarship can be found HERE.
We are deeply grateful for your generous support in honoring Libby’s life and ensuring that her light continues to shine brightly. To further celebrate her legacy, Libby’s daughters, Madison and Ashley, will host an annual walk each October. This event will raise funds for the scholarship and help keep Libby’s spirit and impact alive for generations to come. With your support, the Pinchbeck PTA is committed to making an annual donation to the Libby Gregg Memorial Scholarship Fund of $250 each October.
Thank you for helping us remember our teacher, colleague, and friend. "Once a Ray, always a Ray!".
